It’s french for Ethical
Written by Brigtta Brown
Ethique is a kiwi company doing their bit to supply products which help maintain good skin, hair health and are consciously thinking about sustainability and decreasing our carbon foot print and I’m pleased to share that Ethique is now available at our very own Bin Inn Takanini.
Ethique (pronounced eh-teek) are “the bar” people, everything they make is in bar form and they produce over 40 products ranging from hair care, facial care, body wash, deodorants, moisturisers and even dog shampoo and conditioners. No water means they can pack the bars into compostable packaging rather than plastic.
This kiwi business is the brainchild of biologist Brianne West who began experimenting with solid shampoo in her Christchurch kitchen back in 2012. She wants to rid the world of plastic bottles and as the company grows so too does her ambition. Ethique is working towards making sustainable products the norm and they reckon they’re on track to become the world’s most sustainable cosmetics provider.
I love everything about this kiwi company. If you haven’t already tried this product, I encourage you to try switching to Solid. For all you doubters who like to squeeze your shampoo & conditioner out of a bottle, I challenge you to give this a go.
The world is changing and I am always looking for ways I can do my bit towards a more sustainable way of living. I think every little bit we do now, albeit seemingly small will eventually add up and help preserve our planet, and that – along with beautiful lovely locks, feels good.
